HSBC Honduras
  • A Fan Page created for the purpose of improving relations with existing HSBC customers and increasing overall turnover proved to be tremendously successful.
  • Objective
  • HSBC is one of the world's largest financial services institution with branches spread across the globe. The branch in Honduras experienced stiff competition from other local banks in its vicinity and required support for improving customer retention and expanding its target reach.
  • Strategy & Execution
  • Avenue Social Inc. in collaboration with Clicks Agency, responsible for developing and managing all social media strategy/campaign for HSBC, developed a contest based Application for Team HSBC, with an 'Invite and Win' feature to engage fans. The default language for this Application is Spanish, for the purpose of targeting local customers and prospects in Honduras. People are encouraged to spread the word; the contest which ran for 30 days, allowed fans to invite up to 20 friends per day, and the user with the highest conversion of friend invites to fans was declared as the winner at the end of the contest. The prizes for the winners included Blackberry Smartphones, digital cameras, iPhones, cinema tickets and other fabulous giveaways.
  • Results
  • The Fan Page Application was integrated with the HSBC Honduras Fan Page and the resulting turnover was truly phenomenal. The fan base grew from a modest 1000 to over 25,000 people within a short period of time, and is a testament of the power of social media for brand building.
