Facebook takes Famed Spam-King Sanford Wallace to Court

The famed king Sanford Wallace faced a federal lawsuit by facebook at the starting of this year (February 24th, 2009) as well as Adam Arzoomanian, and Scott Shaw for crimes under the CAN-SPAM Act, Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, and the California Anti-Phishing Act.

However, it is no surprise that Sanford Wallace declared he is bankrupt last Friday, 12th June, 2009, which was likely to cause a temporary delay in the court’s decision. Never-the-less, inquiries are to take place as ordered by Judge Jeremy Fogel to investigate Sanford Wallace’s insolvent claims. According to a Facebook spokesperson, “We will continue to pursue the judgment and will be reviewing his filing very closely.”

Sanford Wallace has had “spam king” repute since 1997 and has been repeatedly charged for diverse federal felonies. Wallace and Arzoomanian have been accused of spamming and spiteful promotional misconduct on social networking for some time now. MySpace took strict actions against Sanford Wallace for phishing and spamming attacks to its users and as a result it was able to win $234 million judgment against him and his business partner Walter Rines, in 2008.

Facebook has always been on the outlook to prevent spammers on its site and seems highly determined to set out a great example for spammers by taking strict actions against the “spam king”.
