Share Button on Facebook Given Super Powers With New ‘VIA” Attribution Feature
Facebook gave new powers to the “Share” button for shared items making this whole feature a lot more interesting and sociable.
Clicking on the ‘Share button’ on any content, video link, etc from any of your friends or pages that you are a fan of will now also show a line of text which says “via” (your friend’s or the Page’s name), etc.
You can now choose to re-share this content or link or page, etc. Doing this will make it visible on your stream and in your friends news feeds. This re-shared content link, page, etc will include a link to the profile of the person from whom you are sharing these items from. However, you do have a choice to remove the name of the person in the re-share window.
This new feature has been inspired by Twitter and in concept is very similar to the way Twitter users tweet feeds or news that is shared multiple time meaning they re-tweet shared stories. Re-tweeting has always been a major part of Twittering, it has never gained as much popularity on Facebook.
Facebook has been trying very hard to get publishing, tagging and linking features like Twitter popular on Facebook. Now you can tag and link users in a post on facebook but unlike twitter when you type in @ on Facebook a drop down menu opens via which you can choose users Facebook names.
