Facebook Appoints ex- Googler (Again)

Facebook has newly appointed yet another ex-google employee to its rank. It has been reported that facebook has hired Greg Badros, a former senior director of engineering at google, as a new director of engineering for facebook.

Greg Badros’s major responsibilities at Google, as a senior director of engineering, included engineering AdSense that started off back in 2004 and helped the company’s revenue grow up to billions. AdSense proved to be one of the biggest cash making programs for google. His capacities to engineer complex programs could probably be one of the main reasons why facebook decided to track down Greg Badros and add a highly skilled professional to its team.

Greg’s other work responsibilities included G-mail, Calendar, Reader and yes of course the famous social networking site in India and Brazil – the Orkut. Greg’s last held work tasks embraced his designation as the head of Application platform team.  Going through Facebook’s past records of employing events, Greg is not the first Google executive that has been added to the squad. Google’s advertising operation head, Grady Burnett was also hired as head of sales for facebook, earlier this June, 2009.

As Facebook is digging out ways to monetize through its payment ecosystem and Facebook Connect, Greg’s engineering expertise can help Facebook pan out these programs. Latest news on Facebook’s updating its inbox and messaging infrastructure also seems to be in a chain. Greg has a lot to do on this platform where high management efficiencies are required.

It would be interesting to see how Greg Badros would help facebook steam up its revenues with his experienced skills in the domain and turn the latest monetization plans a success.
