Digg integrates Facebook Connect!

Posted on May 07, 2009

Last year we wrote that Digg plans to support Facebook connect. Now recently, corroborating its words, Digg finally integrated it. All of us know the virtues that Facebook connect bring to the online media and how this little gizmo is spreading out so rapidly. Facebook connect, which gives the power to the third party websites to get connected with Facebook, gives Digg a wider reach and a probable increase in its users base.

Using Facebook Connect’s authenticity element, Digg now allows it users to log in through either a Facebook or a Digg account, truncating the tedious logging part with a single click. The complimentary part of the deal is that Digg users can have their Facebook friends on board as well and not just this; users can also share their Diggs, submissions and comments on Facebook through live feed. Things look smaller in a snapshot but this little integration has opened new avenues to sharing more and more content on the deck.

As marked by Kevin Rose, this integration has been the largest and the most complex. Diligent team efforts led the integration through a scrupulous plan of action, putting down best practices and upright policies of data portability, which even paved way for future Facebook Connect partners. Even though, Digg has integrated only a basic module of Facebook Connect but looking at a fairly good output reveals that the two giants of social media, Facebook and Digg, seem to bolster each other with this implementation.
